This position is located in Medicine Service, Sleep Medicine Program, at the Richard L. Roudebush VAMC in Indianapolis, Indiana. The incumbent will perform a wide variety of Polysomnographic studies such as routine polysomnogram, PAP titration studies including CPAP, Bi-level, ASV technologies, Overnight Oximetry studies, Actigraphy, Portable Home Sleep study. In addition, the incumbent will also perform a wide variety of work in the clinics including PAP set-up, follow-up, trouble-shooting, data download and assist the Sleep Physician during clinic days. The incumbent will also have responsibility for education of veterans and family members as well as following all technical and hospital, federal and state regulations as well as following recommendations of the AASM, JCAHO, BRPT, and the AAST.
Additional duties may include the following:
Trouble shooting and repairing as necessary EEG, EKG, EOG, EMG and respiratory monitoring equipment.
Timely and accurate with patient hook up utilizing the international 10-20 system of measurement.
Ability to deliver compassionate quality care to our veteran population.
Educating patient and his/her family on the procedures that are performed.
Involving the patient and his/her family in regards to decisions about sleep testing and therapy.
Demonstrating effective written and verbal communication.
Demonstrating the ability to recognize and treat complex patients, and can readily adapt to changing situations.
Providing education, instruction and training of PAP machine, download data, follow-up and trouble shooting.
