This position requires preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the pathologist in an accurate, precise, and timely manner in order to assist the pathologist in providing appropriate quality patient care in the diagnosis of disease. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge includes the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventative maintenance. Directs and controls the day-to-day Histology department operations including all personnel activities, technical oversight, and workflow which can include proficiency testing, quality control, and quality assurance. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process through professional development, continuing education, and research and development.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Memorial Medical Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement plan.
3- 5 years of Histology experience preferred. Strong communication skills required.
College Degree in Science preferred. Successful completion of histology internship and ASCP registration preferred.
