These primary function of the Sr. Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialist of the Immunohematology Reference Lab (IRL) are to specialize in the identification and resolution of basic and complex patient red cell antibody problems and provides suitable units for transfusion; the investigation/development of new/modified test procedures and technical review and monitoring of existing procedures; and coordination of quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities. Responsibilities may include identification of staff training needs and evaluating the competency of testing personnel, including direct oversight of the CLS student program rotations. Act as technical consultant and resource for staff, Medical Enterprise and community. Work assignments are made by the Manager and/or Supervisor and/or Faculty on a daily or project basis.
Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
Must have at least three (3) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.
Completion of Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB).
Five (5) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an immunohematology reference laboratory (IRL).
Must be able to work all shifts, week-ends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
