JOB TITLE: Coordinator, Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety

Responsible for supporting the organizational strategic goals and objectives specifically those related to clinical risk management and patient safety as part of the System's Peer Review process. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes a team concept and reflects the goal of providing seamless support for patients.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care, patient safety and patient satisfaction.
The scope of the program includes Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Geisinger Community Medical Center, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Geisinger Lewistown Hospital and any other healthcare facilities considered a component of the clinical enterprise within the system, including Geisinger Clinics and Marworth.
Reports to the Regional Risk Manager, Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety.
Works in collaboration and conjunction with other members of Risk and Patient Safety to review patient safety reports, visitor events and infrastructure failures.
Conducts a thorough and credible investigation of adverse patient events as appropriate. Conducts follow-up on identified patient safety issues.
Communicates and reports real and potential patient safety issues to department managers and administration as appropriate.
Collaborates with Department managers to identify systemic performance shaping factors and staff perceptions of risk that lead to at-risk behaviors or human error.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
RN with current Pennsylvania licensure required. Graduate from an approved school of nursing required.
Bachelor’s degree in a health-care related field required. Master s degree preferred.
Minimum five years direct clinical experience required.
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Moderate amount of travel required across entire system.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
