As part of a strategic growth initiative in its nationwide research efforts, Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking a new faculty member to bolster its research expertise and capabilities in the area of inflammation and metabolism. MAYO CLINIC is an integrated, multidisciplinary academic medical center with comprehensive programs in medical education and research that span across three group practice and research sites. We support a vibrant and diverse research enterprise, with programs in basic, translational, clinical, and population sciences. Mayo has world-class faculty, laboratories, and state-of-the-art core facilities and biorepositories.
The Mayo Clinic School of Medicine is ranked as the No. 6 best medical school in the country in research by U.S. News & World Report and recently established a four-year branch campus in Arizona. The Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences also trains and supports PhD and MD/PhD students.
The ideal candidate will be an investigator whose research program addresses innovative and important questions related to inflammation, immunology, and metabolism (immunometabolism) and how these processes impact metabolic diseases including insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and/or organ transplant outcomes.
Candidates holding a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, or MD) at all levels of academic rank will be considered for this faculty position. Senior candidates must have a strong publication record and history of NIH-equivalent extramural funding. Junior investigators should have a strong publication record and evidence of successful competition for external funding is preferred. The selected individual is expected to develop and/or maintain a nationally and internationally recognized extramurally funded research program.
