Cardiac Sonographers' perform a variety of specialized technical task utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with detection of cardiac abnormalities and overall cardiac functions. The lead tech is also responsible for the mentoring and training of staff sonographers. Assist with the development of policy and procedures specific to cardiac sonography as well as annual verification of continued competency of all sonography staff. Lead Tech will have ongoing corroboration of medical director to ensure quality of echo studies. Maintain additional reporting task within CPAC and data check computer system. Participate in activities to ensure IAC accreditation.
Education: Graduate from an accredited ultrasound program. Registered Cardiac Sonographer. BA optional Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer in an Inpatient program.
Licenses: Currently registered as a ARDMS or CCI in Echocardiography BLS certification
Pediatric experience needed
Additional Certification requirements: If working where a pediatric population is applicable, Certification in pediatric ultrasound is required via ARDMS or CCI. Sonographers hired before 7/01/2018 who meet the minimum qualification for testing must obtain license by 07/01/2019. Sonographers hired before 07/01/2018 and who do not meet the minimum qualifications for testing have must obtain certification by 07/01/2020. Sonographer hired on or after 07/01/2018 must obtain this certification within a year of meeting the minimum qualification for testing.
Pediatric Certification preferred or obtained within a year of hire.
