The Patient Care Technician reports to the Assistant Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of Registered Nurse, performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The PACU/Pre-op Technician will attach the patient to the monitor, apply the SCDâs, utilize the Glucometer to measure glucose, perform EKGâs as directed by the RN, Draw blood and start IVâs, Urine dip stick, straight Foley catheter a patient. Provides a clean and safe environment, restocks, cleans equipment, and performs other duties as delegated. Restocks inventories and supplies to keep supplies readily available. Performs all the necessary responsibilities required to transport patients to and from various patient care areas and departments within the hospital to designated areas. Responsible for clerical and secretarial duties as needed in the department.
Position Qualification: (Training, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities) â¢ Certified Nursing Assistant â¢ Student currently enrolled in a nursing program or Two (2) years experience in an acute care setting. â¢ Patient Care Technician â¢ EMT or Paramedic certification; or a Bachelorâs degree. "â¢ Minimum of one year experience of related work experience â¢ Medical terminology preferred â¢ Minimum of one year experience of related work experience â¢ Medical terminology preferred â¢ Minimum of one year experience of related work experience" â¢ Medical terminology preferred â¢ Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures and ability to make accurate physical observations of patients. â¢ Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English â¢ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with good knowledge of English language. â¢ Basic computer skills required â¢ Ability to maintain global view and work on many tasks at one time â¢ Position may require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotation shifts, holidays, and weekends. â¢ Able to function calmly in a fast paced, stressful environment
Required Licenses/Certifications: Current BCLS Certification and ACLS preferred from American Heart Association Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with all levels of the organization
