JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFKs cross streets is named in his honor.
Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. It offers a variety of services, including:
Emergency care 24/7
Orthopedic and joint replacement services using emerging technology
Maternity care and pediatric services
Ambulatory surgery center
Outpatient Rehabilitation Center
The professional nurse in critical care uses the nursing process to plan, implement, evaluate and document patient care. The professional nurse considers the patients physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, language barriers, age, teaching needs, and readiness to learn. The professional nurse involves the interdisciplinary team in the plan of care and patient intervention. The RNI independently cares for two (2) critically ill patients; assesses and cares for patients on a ventilator and understands alarms and parameters of the patients. The RNI understands basic dysrhythmias and the hemodynamic status of the patient, assists with bedside procedures, and administers medications prescribed by the physician according to policy. The RN 1 functions in a mentoring relationship with an RN II or RN III in developing autonomous nursing practice.
