Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The nurse practitioner functions as an independent care provider in collaboration with the medical/surgical staff. Their advance practice is characterized by comprehensive health assessments and management of patients with acute and/or chronic health problems before and after cardiac cath procedure. Obtain patient histories and perform physical examination. Write admitting orders, routine orders and daily progress notes as indicated. Discharge patients (recovery in bed) the day after procedure. Prescribe pharmacological agents and non pharmacological treatments for appropriate medical conditions. Educate patients and/or families regarding disease process, medical intervention and health promotion. Document patient teaching. Refers and communicates pertinent abnormalities to medical director/medical specialist. Performs clinical procedures (in addition to RN functions). Removal of invasive drains, lines and catheters, and perform arterial blood gases. Serves as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff in regards to patient and disease management. Performs other functions as requested. Facilitate practices that are in compliance with DOH, CMS, and DNV.
Master s degree in Nursing required with certification of NP/APN. Active New Jersey License/eligibility for National Certification in specialty if applicable. BLS required.
