Provides indirect care in the department setting. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac screen or telemetry monitors and reports arrhythmias to Registered Nurse/and Charge nurse. Meets communication needs of the department. Reports to the Registered Nurse in charge.
ï¿½ High school diploma or the equivalent. ï¿½ Attendance and successful completion of: ï¿½ a). Basic EKG course or Telemetry Technician course; advanced EKG preferred. ï¿½ b). 2 weeks telemetry observation with experienced personnel. ï¿½ One (1) year telemetry technician experience in similar job capacity preferred ï¿½ Basic computer knowledge. ï¿½ Current BLS Certification at hire ï¿½ Requires a through knowledge of basic cardiac monitoring functions and rhythms identification. ï¿½ Must be able to work rapidly under stressful situations with interruptions.
