Assesses inpatient needs and plans, organizes, performs and evaluates nursing activities to meet those needs. Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specified age range of their assigned nursing unit. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System. Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.
Reports directly to the Inpatient Nursing Operations Manager.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
Current Pennsylvania license as a graduate nurse (GN) or registered nurse (RN).
BLS certification required.
ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
PALS certification required within 6 months of hire.
Two (2) years previous experience in Medical-Surgical and/or previous outpatient experience preferred.
Duration of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties varies by individual unit.
Required to work flexible shifts and hours in order to accommodate the needs of patients on a daily basis.
A graduate nurse (GN) may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the GN holds a current temporary practice permit. “Supervision” means that a licensed registered nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the GN is practicing.
