The Medicine & Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse will apply the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. As an Inpatient Medicine unit at Vanderbilt Medical Center, we are dedicated to our patients by providing quality care with attention to clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, patient safety and positive outcomes. We utilize an interdisciplinary team approach along the continuum of care in an effort to provide balance for the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs for every patient and their family. Our interdisciplinary team consists of physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, dieticians, nursing leadership, and educators. We make a difference!
As Vanderbilt University Medical Center continues to grow, we launched this new unit for our Adult Hospital. The unit is located on the 8 th floor of Medical Center East. We care for adults and geriatric patients. Services include, but are not limited to care of adult patients with a variety of medical diagnoses of the pulmonary system, gastrointestinal system, renal system, endocrine system, infectious diseases, circulatory system, neurological system, dermatological disorders, and rheumatologic disorders.
37-bed unit comprised of 7 Observation and 30 Medicine and/or Cardiac Medicine Step-down beds to become the largest unit in the adult hospital.
The Nurse Manager began her career as a new graduate Nurse at VUMC and has consistently achieved greater levels of responsibility in the roles of Charge Nurse, Assistant Manager and Nurse Manager. She acts as a mentor to staff to help them reach the next milestone in their careers and was elected to participate in Vanderbilt's Lead Program which promotes succession planning for staff wishing to advance their careers within Nursing Administration. Additionally, she was chosen for the "Partnering for Excellence" program in which she mentors other Nurse Managers within Vanderbilt's Nursing team.
The Nurse Manager will also have a team of Clinical Staff Leaders to help supervise and assist staff across shifts.
Position Shift : This is a 12-hour shift, 36 hours per week, day shift position. The schedule is made for six weeks which will include 12 weekend shifts (Friday and Saturday nights). Nurses are required to work five weekend shifts out of the 12 weekend shifts available in a 6-week schedule. We offer self-scheduling.
