M Health Fairview is looking for a RN at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, MN to support Vascular Access/PICC teams. This is a casual position filling needs of the team, covering variable hours/shifts/weekends.
Establishes vascular access for patients with various venous access needs. Vascular access includes placement of PICC lines, midlines, and ultrasound guided IV's. This position travels between all of M Health Fairview's East Region hospitals to provide this service for Bethesda, St. Joseph's, St. John's and Woodwinds Hospital.
Performs vascular access procedures with ultrasound guidance using evidence based best practice
Consults with healthcare team as a resource for system vascular access questions
Provides vascular access education and feedback to nursing and medical staff
Utilizes nursing process by assessing, implementing and evaluating care given to assigned patients
Documents procedures in a clear, concise manner accurately reflecting patient outcome
Triages patient care needs through chart review and utilization of critical thinking skills
Communicates accurately and effectively with patient/family and healthcare members regarding plan of care, nursing interventions and patient information. Explains plan of care and nursing intervention to patient and family and healthcare team
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned
Associates Degree in nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association for health care providers
Registered Nurse MN (RN)through the MN Board of Nursing
Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association for health care providers preferred
