The Exercise Physiologist will provide instructions and demonstrate proper technique to current exercise prescriptions to clients participating in the Fitness First Gym. This includes teaching group classes. The Exercise Physiologist will also assist in the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs. This entails helping the nursing staff and respiratory therapist provide rehabilitative exercise care to the adult and geriatric patient monitoring, charting, patient reports and outcomes. Additionally, the employee may assist in Phase 2 Cardiac Rehabilitation plans of care as directed. The employee will also conduct educational sessions or participate in health fairs for groups of clients to promote wellness and healthy lifestyle habits.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Provide education to clients, patients, families
Contributes to the treatment plan of care for client, patient, family including Phase 2 Cardiac Rehabilitation as needed.
Effectively manages the exercise supervision of patients in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Fitness First Members, and employees of the MemorialCare GoodLife program.
Assists Cardiac Rehabilitation nurses with program organization, patient charts, statistics and outcomes as requested.
Assist Respiratory therapists with the Pulmonary Rehabilitation exercise program.
Teaches group exercise classes to Fitness First Members and employees as needed.
Participates in public and corporate health fairs to represent the Saddleback Medical Center.
Maintains current knowledge in cardiovascular and pulmonary disease within scope of practice.
