Overview The radiology/cardiology nurse is involved in the assessment, care planning, and direct care of patients before, during, and after imaging and cardiac procedures. They must be proficient in monitoring and caring for the sedated patient, the patient under stress and in pain. This position reports to the Director of Imaging and Cardiac services, but develops key relationships with the SDS nurse manager, Radiologist(s), Cardiologist(s), and technical staff in the Imaging and Cardiac Departments.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. The RN Interventional Radiology must excel in the clinical skills related to the short term care of the patient and hand off of care to and from others. Have knowledge of the medications and contrast media and develops the patients plan of care accordingly. Skillfully plans for the discharge of the patient to another level of care, including discharge to home. Required:
