Job Summary for Patient Care Technician Full Time Days- Stepdown at Heart

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides individualized, culture-specific patient care by attending to the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists the professional or licensed nurse as delegated in tasks requiring less technical skills. Participates in shift and bedside report, performs phlebotomist duty, clerical/reception unit clerk duties as assigned, and assists in promoting an organized, efficient, smoothly functioning unit. Participates and supports regional, facility, department, and unit initiatives.

Special Skills: Excellent customer service skills; basic computer skills; high level of attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors and health care team members. Knowledge of patient rights, medical terminology, aseptic/sterile technique and infection control best practices. Ability to work under deadlines. Must be reliable. Strongly preferred expr min 1 year in the acute care setting. Must be willing to learn blood draws

High School Diploma or equivalent GED

Required Minimum experience:

One year of experience in as a nursing assistant; or in lieu of experience,

Current CNA certificate, or LNA license from the Arizona State Board of Nursing; or Completed block one/first year of nursing school; or Completion of formal PCA/PCT/CNA education program from an accredited institution.

Required Certification or Licensure: Current Certified Nursing Assistant, CNA or LNA license or meet minimum experience requirements. CPR required upon Orientation completion

Required courses or training: Patient Care Assistant Program; EKG training in selected units
