The Kansas City VA Medical center is currently recruiting for Full Time Registered Nurse Manager for our 5 West Telemetry care/Post-operative Care Unit. The 5 West Unit is a thirteen -bed unit, all private rooms, which provides monitored care (24-hours a day) for surgical adult patients requiring telemetry care/post-operative care. Specialized care provided includes therapies such as: Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) Chest tube drainage Contiguous Bladder Irrigation, Post-operative care. Patient Continuous Administration (PCA) of narcotics. Telemetry monitoring. ACLS Responsibilities and functions include, but not limited to: (1) Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work; (2) Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates; (3) Evaluating the performance of subordinates; (4) Making recommendations for appointments, advancements or reassignments of subordinates; (5) Giving advice, counsel, or instruction to subordinate personnel on work and administrative matters; (6) Hearing and resolving complaints of subordinates and referring more serious complaints not resolved to higher level supervisors; (7) Recommending and/or taking disciplinary action where appropriate; and (8) Identifying developmental and training needs of subordinates and providing or making provision for such development and training (VA Handbook 5007, Part III, Chapter 8). (9) Responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety (10) Designated as the first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the 24/7 operations of their units, ensuring that subordinate personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice. (11) If not on station or unit the Manager must accessible by some means of communication device (pager, phone and phone text); this includes off-tour hours; with the exception of scheduled leave.
