Work Hours/Shift: Full Time/Nights. Monday - Friday 10PM-6:30AM
You Will Be Responsible For:
Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork
Performs assigned pre and post analytical activities related to anatomic pathology tests assigned including specimen collection and processing, Quality Control, equipment maintenance, inventory control, Quality Assurance and proficiency testing procedures.
Performs analytical activities and troubleshooting related to specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, cryotome, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, cover slipping and handling of irreplaceable tissue, surgical and body fluid specimens.
Assists in training new employees and histology students/interns while providing leadership and mentoring to histotechnicians, fellow histotechnologists, and laboratory support staff to maintain optimal operations and outstanding customer service.
Supports cross departmental partnerships and communication amongst Pathologists, Pathologists’ Assistants, hospital staff and clients taking immediate steps to correct, follow through and report any mistakes or errors to department manager, assistant manager or lead tech including resolution to customer service issues within guidelines.
What You Will Need:
1 year of experience as a Histology technician/technologist in Histology laboratory setting
Licensed by the State of Florida as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in Histology
Technical and troubleshooting skills and aptitudes related to specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, cryotome, routine and special histologic staining, cover slipping and handling of irreplaceable tissue, surgical and body fluid specimens.
Ability to utilize automated Histology equipment properly according to lab procedures and manufacturers’ instructions.
Ability to apply accurately learned computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices
2 or more years of experience as a Histology technician/technologist in a Histology laboratory setting.
Associates in Science degree in Histology
Nationally certified as a HT (ASCP), HTL (ASCP) or equivalent.
The Histology Technologist performs anatomical pathology procedures in assigned areas as licensed. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
