The Vice President, Hospital Operations is responsible for overseeing operations for ancillary andsupport matrixed departments within the Hospital and coordination of operational aspects of servicelines embedded in departments not directly reporting to service lines. (This could directly orindirectly include any combination of the following areas: surgery, anesthesia, endoscopy,emergency, orthopedics, neurology, vascular, cardiology, imaging, rehab, pharmacy, laboratory,oncology, and hospital-based clinic services, spiritual health, guest services, and communityrelations). As a member of the senior leadership team, this role will provide operational support andleadership within the hospital, including implementation of tactics or programs coming out of thestrategic plan, service line program development, physician relationships, patient satisfaction,employee engagement, and community relationships.
The VP of Ops role at St. Johns will partner with the CNO, and service lines to expand St. Johns into a large tertiary care center. This exciting role will have direct accountability for campus operations and direct reporting for perioperative services.
The role will also include leadership and implementation of the Fairview Operating Management System using lean methodology and lean philosophy, care model planning and implementation, patient experience, employee engagement, quality and safety and cost management initiatives.
The role will assure operational performance across the assigned functional service areas and achievement of the implementation of initiatives to drive consistency and best practice performance. The role includes working as a liaison with system and service line leaders, to ensure consistent and common standards for Operations.
Responsible for Labor Relations and Negotiations for non-nursing staff within the hospital as appropriate. The CNO role will be responsible for nursing staff labor relations and negotiations.
As part of the senior leadership team, will provide clinical and operational leadership in human resource management, quality assurance and improvement, operations performance, team development, planning, budget management and site performance.
As a member of the hospital executive team, the VP of Operations facilitates a highly matrixed approach in the development of hospital services and displays an ability to work effectively within the health systems decision making and organizational structures.
This role will partner across the system to find efficiencies across the system, ensure that we are removing unwarranted complexities, achieve higher outcomes/lower cost, and move patients to most appropriate care quickly.
Ensures the integration of high-quality clinical services within site and the broader Fairview. integrated care delivery system.
Uses position of prominence to increase the level of awareness and commitment toward clinical process and quality improvement within the hospital.
Provides leadership for site initiatives and acts as a liaison to other Operational Leadership and System Committees.
The role participates and collaborates with an inter-professional team of leaders, including hospital, medical staff, senior executives, Service lines leaders, and senior services leadership, to develop quality initiatives, policies and procedures, and budget resource allocation.
Partners with the Medical practice and Medical Staff to ensure effective, efficient, high quality patient care.
Represents the organization in the community through representation in various civic and social organizations.
Provides representation as is deemed appropriate in national, state and local health care association boards, consumer groups and other related health care agencies.
7 to 10 years of healthcare leadership.
Masters Degree, or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date.
