Position Summary:
Assists with cardiovascular and non-invasive studies or treatments. Competently performs M-Mode with calculations, 2-D procedures with all necessary views and calculations, Doppler echo with analysis, all information and data as required, all peripheral vascular procedures including arterial Doppler, venous Doppler, segmental pressures, ankle-arm index, carotid ultrasound, tilt table exams, treadmills, 24 hour holters, and pharmacological studies. Must be able to demonstrate ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's age-specific needs (i.e. Pediatric Echo or Geriatric Doppler Exam) and anticipate the needs of physician and aware of potential patient problems. Must keep updated on the latest advances in cardiovascular techniques and equipment and be a willing preceptor for new technicians and share knowledge and expertise in mentoring other staff.
Qualifications:EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION:
- High School Education or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum two years previous experience as a cardiac ultrasound sonographer and/or completion of a one year certified cardiac ultrasound course.
- Minimum two years experience as a vascular sonographer and/or completed a certified vascular sonographer course
- Minimum two years experience as a pediatric cardiac sonographer and/or completed a certified pediatric sonography course.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Ultrasonographer (RDCS) and Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Pediatric Echocardiography (PE), BLS.
Desired Training/Education/Experience/Certification: Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
