Position Information: The Environmental Health & Safety Officer provides leadership and serves as the Environment of Care Safety Compliance Officer for assigned Environment of Care (EC) Programs for the entire WakeMed system. Researches, plans, designs, implements, monitors and evaluates Environment of Care performance initiatives. evaluates compliance with multiple regulatory agencies. Provides leadership for process changes that result in improved compliance by using the PDSA method. Analyzes aggregate data; determines risks and identifies the action steps to minimize the risks and/or to obtain compliance for the assigned programs. Develops, implements, and monitors the program(s) annual strategic plan. Compiles and submits quarterly and annual reports. Leads assigned committees and task forces. Develops, conducts, maintains and evaluates assigned EC training programs. Functions as the EC resource for department management and staff. Provides leadership for multiple emergency response and incident management teams. May be required to stay and/or to return to work during emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. Requires working a nontraditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the emergency event.
Experience Requirements: 2 Years Healthcare Safety And/Or Emergency Management Required - And Training Emergency Vehicle Operations Preferred
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree Related Field Required - Or Associate's Degree Related Field Required - With Equivalent Experience
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Maintain Vehicle Operator Insurability Required - And Hazardous Materials and Waste Technician And Hospital Incident Command And State Medical Assistance Team And Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Required - Within 1 Year of Hire And Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification Preferred
