Provides clinical expertise in the provision of professional, safe, competent, quality care based on a synthesis of current research, concepts, principles, theories, and outcomes and in accordance with regulatory requirements and Baylor Scott and White Health policies and procedures. Serves as a clinician, educator, investigator, consultant and leader.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Provides specialized nursing treatment, care, and education to patients in accordance with physician/nursing orders and established policies and procedures.
Collaborates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and professional practice in collaboration with members of the health care team and in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory agency requirements.
Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered and applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
Formulates care plans and provides direct, continuous care for specific patients and documents the nursing process in patient's record. Utilizes current nursing and clinical research to support evidence-based clinical decision-making and practice.
Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of patient care.
Develops, teaches and evaluates educational programs for Nursing Staff and patients to include Nurse Internship Program, Nursing interventions for patients, Nursing emergencies, and all aspects of patient care. Developing and coordinating ongoing in-service education programs for nursing personnel.
Serves as a resource to patients and families, providing preoperative counseling and follow-up problem solving after discharge from the hospital. Participates in national meeting and/or professional workshops and seminars as a speaker, contributor, or resource person.
