The Vascular Technologist is expected to conduct, document and analyze quality noninvasive vascular testing on both inpatient and outpatient customers on the most complex and non-routine exams. This position is located within Surgery Service. English Language Proficiency: Applicants must you proficiently speak, read, write, and understand the English Language Certification: Registration by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) or by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) is highly desirable. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are also desirable. GS-9 Grade Determination: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-8). Examples of specialized experience include: providing Doppler information of peripheral vessels; demonstrating characteristic differences related to the organs they supply; quantifying carotid artery stenoses; identifying and correlating specific waveform analysis, plethysmographic tracings, velocity changes, and pressure gradients characteristic of normal, obstructed, or occluded vessels or grafts; performing intracranial (transcranial) vascular examinations; operating instruments to extract the highest quality image utilizing the appropriate transducer frequency, Doppler angle, focal zones, gain, depth, color map, wall filter, and sample volume; providing objective data to document progression or regression of disease. Responsible for seeing that there is supporting information and documentation for the exam being performed. Recognize, identify and appropriately document normal and abnormal anatomic structures, physiology, pathology and pathophysiology. Adequately explain testing procedures to patients, family members as necessary and hospital staff members connected to the care of the patient. Maintain patient privacy and record confidentiality according to hospital policy. Develop and maintain good relationships with clients and co-workers.
